Standard: 14 C Stage H: Compare historical examples of issues in local, state or national elections that affect the civil rights of various groups
Activity
To begin this weeks activity there will be a guest speaker followed by readings, lecture and class/group discussions. The students will read three articles the first is about high stakes testing, the second article is about IQ tests and then the third article is about Latino voting in America. At the end of this unit the students will take the information they learned, as well as, engage in research about High Stakes Testing and voting and create a poster. The last day of the unit the students will present their poster and will be given 2-3 minutes. This lesson answers the first essential question of the unit, What is the history of High Stakes Testing?
